Once a decision has been made by the IAA, it must prepare a written statement that:

• sets out the decision on review
• sets out the reasons for the decision, and
• records the day and time the statement is made.

This decision statement is provided to the referred applicant and the Department of Home Affairs. The IAA will generally notify an applicant of the decision by email.
