The Immigration Assessment Authority (IAA) is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). All personal information we collect is handled in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

The IAA has been established as a separate office within the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT), and is therefore subject to the AAT’s privacy policy.

Privacy Impact Assessments

In accordance with s 15(1) of the Australian Government Agencies Privacy Code, the IAA is required to maintain a register of all Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) it conducts.

PIAs undertaken by the IAA will be published on this website.

Making a complaint

If you are unhappy with the way the IAA has handled your personal information, or if you are concerned we have breached our obligations under the Privacy Act, you must first write to us and lodge a complaint.
