The President of the AAT or the Division Head of the Migration and Refugee Division of the AAT may issue from time to time Practice Directions that cover:

• the operations of the IAA and
• the conduct of reviews by the IAA.

Directions may relate to efficient processing practices of the IAA.

While the IAA must seek to comply with any direction, non-compliance with a direction does not make the IAA decision invalid.

If a person fails to comply with a direction that applies to them, the IAA is not required to accept new information or documents from that person, or to hear or continue to hear that person at an interview.
