This website has been developed to ensure content is available to the widest possible audience, including readers using assistive technology or accessibility features. By adhering to guidelines for accessible web design, we acknowledge the diversity of communication methods, available technologies and abilities of web-users in the community.

The IAA website aims to comply with the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) Level A requirements, which have been endorsed by the Australian Government.

Alternative document formats

We are in the process of providing all documents on this website in Word, PDF and HTML. For the time being, please contact us if you require any of the documents in an alternative format.

Translation and interpreters

Information about the IAA is available in multiple languages. See 'What you need to know about the IAA' on our Translation & Interpreting Services page.

The Australian Government provides a Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) for people who do not speak English. A non-English speaker does not pay for TIS services if contacting a government service or agency.

To use the telephone interpreting service:

  1. Phone 131 450 from anywhere in AustraliaTell the Operator the language you speak
  2. Tell the Operator the telephone number of the person or organisation you wish to speak to
  3. Telephone interpreting is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Hearing, sight or speech impaired

If you have a hearing, sight or speech impairment, you can contact the National Relay Telephone service for help in contacting us.

  • Speak and listen users (speech-to-speech) can call 1300 555 727.
  • TTY (teletypwriter) users can call 133 677.
  • Visit the National Relay Service website to make an internet relay call.

The operator will place the call to the IAA and translate the call. The IAA can answer your call Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
